Final preparations, Affordable Art Fair, Aug 27 - 30

Gone through 5 boxes of Hahnemuhle in a few days. That's right Irid Gallery which represents my work will be at this year’s Affordable Art Fair at the end of this month. Work continues on the Affordable Art Fair, the biggest time spent is in the synchronising of my work across websites and social media platforms and getting that consistency in terms of editions, sizes and prices.

Ordered some framing samples from my framer in a black, Tasmanian Oak and teak, so I can have some samples on the Affordable Art Fair.

I went and visited Harvey Gallery the art of Dr Seuss in the Block arcade and much to my surprise discovered how my much my Dr Seuss artwork collection had increased in value. One I had had in a few years gone up $3500 in value.

I went and saw Phil Penman Street Scenes exhibition at the Leica Gallery in Melbourne. I highly recommend it, great B&W prints and excellent images. Framing was black on the edge with no matt, so I felt the prints were a bit visually claustrophobic. It would have been nice to see some psychological space around such powerful images. 

Went to hear Gael Newton talk at Brighton Arts Centre on Max Dupain and Ansel Adams. I was perplexed by her comment that no one was teaching or using the zone system anymore. In fact, I use it all the time to this day and use the same spot meter that Adams used and its still working fine after 41 years. I am indebted to Ansel Adams for its creation. I still think many people don’t fully understand what it is or how it’s useful. I use it in B&W and colour film or digital.
