Agata Mayes Open Studio @ Sophie Perez Studios, Hastings

I went to Agata Mayes Studio at Open Studio at Sophie Perez Studios in Hastings, (images below}, and was very impressed. Good music, chicken sandwiches and yummy Agata made savory .round things. Her work is a bit mathamaticaly based. Her videos and animations are quite intricate and a small observations, fragments of her past and relationships with her father. I wonder if the work is trying to join the fragments together into meaning. I was particularly impressed in the print on the table below, a nested figure in a room. A beautiful sensitive print. I do like gentleness in people, life and art. I'm not convinced that all art has to be political, controversal and shocking which can be over rated. If you look at many artists careers, they often start being quite graphic and over the years becomes more subtle. Well worth the drive and happy to support a fellow creative.
